Like the typical tourist, Arnav and Khushi set out to do some sightseeing. Khushi was absolutely in love with the tall structures and their amazing designs. She had absolutely fallen in love with this city and couldn't believe they would be leaving behind the Burj Khalifa, Burj-al-Arab, and the Palm in 3 days.
Khushi was going through all the pictures they took on her phone while Arnav was working on his laptop and talking on the phone. From what Khushi could pick up, he was either speaking with Rose Anne, Etta, Nigel, or someone in security. Khushi loved that they didn't have too much security around them here; enough but few for Khushi to even remember that they were around.
Arnav finally got off the phone and Khushi went over to him.
"How goes the work," she asked.
"They finished taking out all of the old stuff yesterday and have started working on the first floor."
"Oh...."
"It'll be some time before the renovation is complete."
"So where will you stay until it's completed?"
"We will be just fine."
Khushi couldn't help but to smile. "We could stay in my apartment if you're okay with cramped living and no maids," she teased lightly.
Arnav smirked at her and she stuck her tongue at him. It made Arnav chuckle and Khushi sighed at the sound of it. She absolutely loved it.
"I've got some plans for us, but sure, we can stay at your place for some time if it's not a problem."
"Not a problem at all."
Arnav's phone began to ring, so Khushi let him get back to work. She watched some TV, read one of her novels, then decided to order room service. She prepped some food for Arnav, placing it on the side for him to eat later when he would be free.
Not long later, Arnav appeared and entered the dining room, holding his MacBook open.
"What is it," Khushi asked, looking at the device in confusion.
"My sister."
Khushi frowned and then looked at the screen. She saw Anjali, who was waving at her.
"Hi Khushi!"
"Hi Anjali! How are you?" Khushi took the laptop from Arnav and had him sit down to eat.
"I'm good, how are you? How are you enjoying Dubai?"
"It's so lovely here. Hot, but lovely!"
"How's my Chote treating you? Is he on his best behavior?"
Arnav and Khushi glanced at each other. Arnav's eyes were filled with mischief, that signature smirk on his face, causing Khushi to blush.
"Pretty well by the looks of it."
Khushi turned her attention hack to Anjali, remembering that she was still there.
Anjali chuckled. "Anyway, let's get right down to the girl talk."
"Sure, let me just go into another room."
Arnav's head perked up and he watched as Khushi walked away towards the other bedroom.
What is she up to, he wondered.
Khushi entered the other bedroom and sat on one of the beds. "Okay, I'm alone now."
"Good. Chote can be so overprotective sometimes. It makes me wonder who's really the older one," she chuckled. "Anyway, the reason why I called was to talk to you about something."
Khushi eyebrows scrunched. "About what?"
"Uh, well... um... it's about your brother."
Khushi's eyebrows shot up. "Oh?"
"Yeah," Anjali slightly blushed. "Um, I went to check up on the renovations and found Shyam talking to Etta, asking her where you went."
"Crap! I totally forgot to tell him."
"I told him the situation and, well, he kinda got mad you don't tell him."
"I'm sure he did. Crap, it was just so out of the blue, I totally forgot to text him. I can't even contact him cause I don't have international minutes, and I don't know how I exactly feel about giving him Arnav's number by calling from his phone."
"Understandable. That's why I told him I'd call and let you know."
"Oh. Well... thank you. "
"It's nothing. ...Um... but that's not the only reason why I called."
Khushi looked at her curiously. "What is it?"
"Uh... so after I got your brother to cool down, we kinda got coffee-"
"Kinda?"
"Okay, so we got coffee and we talked. I was going to go check out my new apartment-"
"New apartment?"
"Yeah, just as a getaway since I can't always stand to be in that house...."
Khushi pursed her lips. There's that feud again... what did Kalavati and her mother do to them for Arnav and Anjali to hate them so much?
"It's just for a getaway basically. I'll be going back and forth, its in the city. Anyway, I had to go to check in on all of my new furniture, so your brother offered to drive me there."
Khushi had a feeling she knew where this was going.
"He dropped me off and I offered him to come inside, stupidly saying the coffee is already in our hands and the only thing left is for him is to come inside! How lame am I?"
Khushi pursed her lips. Told you Arnav! In your face, she likes Bhai! But....
"He actually agreed to come in after all of that garbage. He checked the place out with me and my interior designer left us alone."
Oh boy....
"We um... well we um, looked through the apartment, going over the furniture and what looked good and what didn't. He made some good points..."
Seriously?
"... and I totally spoke to my designer later about that. Um... we went to the bedroom last...."
Oh no.
"And um... things went from one thing to another...."
Did they...?
"And we um... we kind of... I may or may not have slept with your brother?"
Holy shit! "You did what?"
"Hush! Don't let Chote hear, he'll freak!"
Khushi's eyes were wide - so wide, there may be a possibility of them popping out! "Holy crap Anjali," she ended up hissing instead of whispering.
"I know! I know! I just- I couldn't help it! One minute we're talking about furniture, the next thing I know clothes are flying and I'm writhing-"
"Please don't finish that sentence."
Anjali's shoulders sagged. "You're not mad, are you?"
Khushi blinked. "Why would I be mad?"
"Cause things might get weird, you dating my brother and me... eh with your brother."
"Eh?" You did more than eh with my brother, you eeeeeeeehhhhh with my brother, not just plain eh, okay," she frowned.
"It wasn't eeeeeeeehhhhh, but eeeeeeeeeeeehhhhhh."
Khushi shut her eyes and grimaced. "Oh boy."
"I'm sorry," Anjali squeaked.
Khushi shook her head clear. "Anyways... I'm not mad. I'm happy for you guys. I saw you, gross as it is to say this, but eye... fucking... my brother at dinner," Khushi said awkwardly. "I had a feeling something would happen."
"Really? Cause when I saw him the other day-"
"What other day?"
"After he visited you-"
"I knew it! I knew it was you he was going to see! But wait, when do you guys- you exchanged numbers at dinner," she gasped.
"Um... yes?"
Khushi shook her head. "Oh my gosh."
Anjali blushed, scratching her head.
"Well... I wish you both the best of luck."
"Thank you Khushi. And I hope you really like it- er- like your time there. Okay, bye," and she ended the call.
Khushi stared at the screen oddly. What?
Deciding not to think on it, Khushi got up to rejoin Arnav.
"Care to explain what that was about," he asked.
"Girl talk is called girl talk for a reason, you know."
"Enlighten me."
Khushi rolled her eyes. "It's personal."
"She's my sister."
"And she's my friend. So?"
"She can tell me anything."
Not everything. "Well she chose to speak to me cause she needed a girl. Last I checked, you don't qualify," she teased with a smirk.
Arnav frowned and Khushi held her hands up.
"Hey, I'm innocent."
Arnav looked at her for and moment before letting it go. "Whatever. Let's go to bed, I'm tired."
Khushi yawned with a nod. Cleaning up and having room service take things away, Arnav and Khushi headed to bed, Khushi wrapped securely in Arnav's arms.
"Your brother dropped by the other day," Arnav said. "He asked Etta where you were."
"In all the rush, I forgot to call him."
"Do you want to talk to him?"
Khushi shook her head and snuggled into Arnav's chest.
"Okay. Good night my sweet angel."
"Good night. I love you, Arnav."
"I love you, too, baby. Now and forever."
*~*
When Khushi woke up, she saw a note propped up beside her.
Out on a few errands. I'll be back soon.
Khushi wondered what those errands could be. Maybe work related? There's so many business moguls here, why wouldn't something work related arise?
Khushi got up and washed up. She ordered breakfast and ate as she watched TV. She went on the MacBook to check her emails and saw one from Lavanya.
Girl where the fuck are you?! I have called you repeatedly but you won't pick up? Where the hell are you? >:(
Oh crap! Khushi quickly wrote back a response.
Hey! I'm so sorry, Arnav and I are in Dubai on vacation, it was totally last minute, I totally forgot to call and let you know. Forgive me :(
Khushi hit send and the email disappeared. Crap, I really should've made those calls.
Khushi went back to watching TV when about an hour later, she got a video call from Anjali.
Khushi took the call. "Hey Anjali- whoa, what are you wearing?"
"Oh shit," Anjali muttered as she quickly pulled on robe to try to cover herself, not that the net material did anything to cover up the red lace bodice she wore underneath.
"Uh... I don't wanna ask, but I kind of have to, even though it's absolutely awkward-"
"Yeah, your brother is in the other room," Anjali said awkwardly.
Khushi pursed her lips with a nod. "Gotcha."
"Yeah.... Hey, um, what time is it over there?"
Khushi looked at the clock. "A little after 12. Why?"
"12 huh? And it's after 4 here; eight hour difference. Oh, okay, thanks. Gotta go, bye," and she ended the call.
Khushi blinked. "What the?"
Khushi shut the laptop and set it aside and turned to the TV screen, though she was still confused.
What the hell was that about?
